WiFi cameras are hardly anything new, but there are a few features on this Samsung SH100 that caught our attention. For one, this 14.2 megapixel imager lets you use your Android smartphone -- Galaxy S is specifically mentioned here -- a "real time" remote viewfinder and trigger over WiFi! Additionally, users will also benefit from the camera's DLNA and wireless PC sync capabilities. While this sounds all awesome, we'll have to wait until March before our wallets take a $199.99 damage. Las Vegas- Samsung’s newest compact, the 14.2MP SH100, is essentially the brainchild of a company that has combined years of knowledge in the cellphone market, with its experience as a digital camera company. The result? A (nearly) fully social media-integrated “smart-camera.”
Bringing whole new meaning to the idea of instantaneous photo and video-sharing, the SH100 offers seamless Wi-Fi integration for PC users—thanks to built-in 802.11n wireless—as well smartphone integration for certain Android phone-users.
Do you have a Samsung Galaxy-S smartphone? If so, you will be happy to know that you can use your device as a remote to view what the SH100 sees, in real time. This means the ability to frame, shoot and GPS-tag an image. Unfortunately this nifty feature works only for the Galaxy-S. Sorry iPhone/Blackberry/other Android phone-users!
While the SH100’s smartphone compatibility is limited, its ability to sync with any PC is not. Utilizing either an available wireless Internet connections or a Boingo Wi-Fi hotspot (the SH100 comes with a Boingo subscription), users can back-up their images or videos, post them to social networking sites or email them to an individual address, all with the push of a few buttons.
A fan of Facebook? How about Picasa, Photo Bucket or Youtube? The SH100 makes directly transmitting photos and videos to these sites for sharing a breeze. Unfortunately, it does not appear that the SH100 is fully compatible with Flickr or Twitter. However the SH100 does allow users to send HD videos directly to their home DLNA-equipped HDTV, wirelessly, for real-time viewing.
Outside of the SH100’s love for sharing, it is essentially your average compact camera. It features a 14.2MP CCD sensor, 5x zoom (26-130mm 35mm equivalent), a 3” touchscreen, various automatic settings, HD video recording capabilities (specs not specified) and digital-only image stabilization.
Ultimately, despite its obvious compatibility drawbacks, the SH100 definitely represents a step forward in the compact camera field. With Wi-Fi available in many public locations, the demand for cameras that can painlessly share photos and videos for viewing by friends and family on social networking sites is growing. Unfortunately, until the further integration with other smartphones and devices occurs, it seems the SH100’s target audience will be somewhat limited.

Samsung ST600 Review - Digital Cameras - CNET Asia
When launched last year, the Samsung ST550 stood out from other point-and-shoots with its unique dual LCD implementation. The camera has a 3.5-inch rear touchscreen and a 1.5-inch display in front for framing self-portraits. Till now, no other camera manufacturer has been able to top what Samsung did with the ST550, and it remains one of the more popular compacts among ladies.
Users who find the 1.5-inch front screen too small will rejoice at the latest addition to the ST family. The ST600 is an improved shooter over its predecessor and features a higher-resolution image sensor, bigger front LCDs as well as new shooting options.
The ST600 is available in several colors.
The front screen on the new Samsung camera is bumped up to 1.8 inches from 1.5 inches on its predecessor. This will make it easier for users to frame self-portraits. Like the ST550, the ST600's front display can show various information such as the shooting option used and timer. Samsung has, however, added more new features to the shooter. For example, the cartoon animation is now accompanied by sound to make it more attractive to kids. There is also a Jump Mode, which prompts the subjects to jump and the camera will snap three consecutive images of the people in mid air. The Couple Mode detects two faces and automatically snaps a shot when it sees the two faces tilted toward each other.
The image sensor resolution has also increased from 12 megapixels on the ST550 to 14 megapixels on the ST600.
Judging from the features the ST600 offers, it's not hard to see who its target audiences are--women and the younger crowd. We're pretty sure they will find such functions useful for a night out at a party.
Given that the updates are not substantial, we are wondering if the ST600's new features are enough reasons to persuade ST550 owners to upgrade.

What's Not
The lens specifications for the ST600 remain the same as the ST550's. The former has 5x optical zoom and it is widest at 27mm. The rear 3.5-inch LCD is touch-sensitive and employs the same Smart Gesture UI first deployed in the ST550, to quickly change the shooting modes or navigate the camera's menu.Given that the updates are not substantial, we are wondering if the ST600's new features are enough reasons to persuade ST550 owners to upgrade.
Parting Notes
The ST600 is not a camera that'll suit everyone, but its dual LCD implementation offers a fun and effective solution for users who like to take self-portraits or enjoy fun shots with friends.
